Russell Military Museum - Photos as requested
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hey Gang,

Mrs VB and I are planning a trip early next week to the Russell Military Museum in Russell, IL and were wondering if there were specific photos needed by anyone.

I remember seeing something about the M113 under the skycrane on the forum. I'll get shots of that and look for numbers - but you know about my serial number challengedness! LOL!

Cheers,

VB

I've seen images of an M114 under a Tarhe, but thought that was at Ft. Bliss. Could well be wrong about that.

Doug

There is an M114 displayed under a Skycrane at Camp Shelby Mississippi's Museum.

VB:
The M113 SN location, is usually on the front right corner, below the headlight assembly.

It may also be stamped on the upper lip of the rear of the vehicle, above the back ramp. Usually toward the left side of the vehicle, but I have located them in the middle area.

Regards
Don

VB,
I basically need a good list of what vehicles are actually at the Russell Military Museum. I think a number of the vehicles that were at Kenosha were sold and are not at the new museum. My latest list is below - basically anything with a question mark was at Kenosha, but its not confirmed whether its now at Russell...

That being said, the vehicle under the helicopter is a T117 prototype.

Of course any/all SNs or RNs would be great. Would be amused if you could get the SNs off the skirt of the XM1 wreck (cut into two pieces) - assuming there are any skirt pieces left.

When I suggest a joint trip to a museum all I get is the 'LOOK' Crying or Very sad

Neil,

I have already seen and photographed the following from your unsure list at the Russell Military Museum:

M4A3E8 Sherman Easy Eight Missing right suspension, track
s698.photobucket.com/a...Stuart.jpg – YES displayed on trailer with different turret.

M5 High-Speed Tractor - YES

M32A1B3 Missing right track - YES

M42A1 Duster – YES
com-central.net/index....ad&id=1360 - I've seen BOTH M42s.

BOTH M47s - YES

Sexton Mk II – YES
s698.photobucket.com/a...tonM47.jpg

At least 3 if not 4 M113s - I'll get SNs when we go this week and shots of the M117.

Will post the aforementioned AFVs and what we get this week as soon as I can.

Cheers,

the VBs

Hey VB,

Some confirmations on the M60/60A3 SN's would be nice. Also, on the M60, if you could get a decent shot of one of the arm housings, the rear "Weld Numbers" , and any Casting ID on the rear or side of the hull I would greatly appreciate it.

Example "Weld Numbers"
Example Arm Housing

Thanks in advance.
