Looking for BT7 info...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Mikhail Baryatinskiy has a good book on Russian light tanks that covers the BT7 and it is readily available. It's not a Hunnicutt or Neil Stokes tome, but for the price and coverage, I would recommend it.

Mikhail Baryatinskiy has a good book on Russian light tanks that covers the BT7


I have that book and the book covers, besides Russian WW2 light tanks in general, on 21 pages the BT-series of tanks (so BT-2 till BT-7)
The biggest section of this concerns the BT-7 serie

It has some nice line drawings, service picture's and colour drawings of the vehicle
Besides the picture's there is also an short development history and some technical data

Here's a suggestion of "otherwise".....

Tamiya is coming out with a 1/35th scale model of a BT7. It might be available now. I have used 1/35th models in order to scale up the parts dimensions to 1/16th scale for scratchbuilding.....

It's BT-7 1935-36 production, with old type turret, tracks and driving sprockets.
In principal, i have parts of operational manual of this tank.
Tamiya guys use as a prototype this vehicle: legion-afv.narod.ru/BT..._CMMF.html

Tamiya made good model, but gun better replace to something more correct.

About books... heh, good question. Peoples who write books still use 15-20 years old information. Better not use Mikhail Baryatinskiy book, it's pakc of tales Mr. Green

Thanks for the additional information regarding the basis of the Tamiya model and the warning about Baryatinskiy's book. By the number of photos being posted in various forums, it looks like more than a few new BT-7 models are being built this summer.

Regarding the vehicle interior, I dug up the old AFV Interiors article on the BT-7 this weekend. The cutaway drawing of the BT-7 used in the article is available on the Russian Battlefield site (www.battlefield.ru) and all the interior photos of the Kubinka vehicle that Igor Nesterov provided for the AFV Interiors article are on thetankmaster.com site at:

I am assuming the Kubinka crew did a good job on the restoration of the interior and most of the important details are accurate.

Any chance photos of the turret interior are available somewhere?
