Wings and Wheels 2010 Ursel Belgium
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

this is not an AEC Matador as labelled, but an AEC Armoured Car :

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...moured_Car

(of which I should create a PDF file listing the survivors soon).

the AEC matador is an artillery tractor :

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEC_Matador

P-O

I did not kno wwhat type this is, so I searched the internet and ended at the site of the Belgium army

And there is an list of old equipment and this armoured car is listed as: "Pantserauto A.E.C. Mk.II MATADOR" (armoured car A.E.C. Mk II Matador)
Link here (only french and Flemish / Dutch)

Some how the information source seemed reliable

Well I modified the description of the AEC to "armored car AEC Mk II based on AEC Matador truck"

And the description of the Firefly to "Sherman Ic Hybrid Firefly"

Because the official description was Sherman Ic Hybrid and Firefly was the name given by the crew's

Michel,

For more information; the US Army sought to improve the frontal protection on the M4 medium tank. The limits to foundry capacity made it impossible to concentrate soley on the M4A1 with cast upper hull. At the Detroit Tank Arsenal it was decided that the welded hull M4 could be improved by adding a cast front to the welded upper hull. This improved contours and eliminated several welded seams in the frontal armor. These were originally built with the "small" drivers' hatches as seen on the original M4/M4A1, but soon switched to the larger drivers' hatches for improved access and escape. About the same time as the Detroit Tank Arsenal was using the cast frontal hulls, Fisher Body was adopting a revised welded upper hull with a 47-degree one-piece glacis. The Fisher hull was adopted for late M4A2s and late M4A3s as well as M4s with 105mm howitzers. The cast front remained unique to DTAs late M4s with 75mm guns and the small batch of M4A6s. The late M4s are seem often in late Pacific campaigns and in limited numbers in US service in Europe. Quite a few were given to the British and Canadians where the tank was named "Sherman I Hybrid". A number of these tanks were converted to 17-pounder guns, becoming Sherman Ic Hybrids. The tern "composite" is a post-WW2 modeler term and was not used by the US Army, the tanks were all M4 Medium Tanks.

The term Hybrid is not post war, it is a wartime British term to distinguish the late M4.

As stated, composite is the non original word.
