M47's at Chiriaco Summit
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi, I may be wrong, but I think the drip rails on the turret indicate they are returned MAP vehicles, rebuilt by the Italians while in their service. I know there is one in Barstow like that. Well, that would be consistent with say, every other known M47 in the US (being ex-Italian)... Neil

When I was a kid I used to visit a local barrack in Sicily during the annual open day. I asked myself what was the point of keeping around those aging M47s. Now I am happy the Italian Army kept them in service for so long Massimo
