Tanks in town
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Michel

To be more exact, French people are into wine, cheese AND beer.
But it seems that having fun at TiT requires rather beer than wine..

Most likely because it is in Belgium and not France

I'm watching the F1 Friday Practice at SPA Belgium. Weather looks a bit wet, so I guess the event this weekend might be 'enjoying' similiar conditions.

Enjoy

The weather in The Netherlands is similar to the weather in Belgium

And at the moment it is clouded and from time to time some rain

The weather forecast is expecting that the weather will be better on Saturday, cloudy with some sun, perhaps some minor rain

However the weather forecast is also that it will be raining an lot on sunday

So Sunday with the reenactment battle's and tour could become an day full of fun, rain and mud Mr. Green

Remembering the (good old) days ploughing through the mud with my german built tank, the gunner complaining about the heat in the tank and the loader/commander standing outside with horizontal effect rain/snow and cold. And the maintenance after that.... especially the mud at Vogelsang was notorious. Ah, the memories Mr. Green Mr. Green

Post subject: Re: Tanks in town

well an first update from saturday concerning tanks in town

And the First European Afv News Discussion Board Meeting (FEANDBM)

First about the event it self
The weather was much better then expected, it was most of the time sunny with some clouds (at least untill 14:00 when I left)

Seen an lot of nice MV's, especial the big amount of tracked AFV's present made it worth the effort of going there Mr. Green

The M7B2 of the artillery museum Brasschaat

Concerning the FEANDBM Rolling Eyes

Well I met Trichenor and his colleagues from the artillery museum Brasschaat
Nice group of people who can tell an lot about the M7B2 Priest they restored
They are looking for an new set of Sherman tracks, so if some one has a set of tracks laying some where in a barn, send Trichenor an PM Wink

Trichenor and I spotted an tall guy in Russian uniform and we both think it was P-O, however he did not stop to have an talk

So the two of us are about all that where present at the first meeting of FEANDBM, perhaps there will be more people at a next meeting

After a good explanation about the Priest and discussion about other military stuff the first meeting was closed

I will upload some picture's to my photobucket account

Michel

Michel,

I have to disagree with you, I also was at Tank in Town, but we missed each other. Like you, the only guy from the forum that I met was Tichenor, here is a picture taken on Sunday, after "the greatest ride ever" :

My first impressions :
it was a fantastic edition. Tichenor is really a fantastic guy, very nice, and I appreciated to meet him. He allowed me to experience my first ride on a Sherman tank (the M7B2). The other guys from the M7B2 team were also very nice and we all discussed and laughed a lot on Saturday and Sunday.
Soon I'll post a video showing the M7B2 firing blank ammunitions.

Hi P-O,

if you did see Trichenor on Saturday, it have been after +/- 13:30

After the morning meeting, I saw him again around that time and he still did not meet any other person of the forum

So if Trichenor did meet other people I did not know, saturday evening Mr. Green

Perhaps we will have to set an new meeting for next year at the Tanks in Town 2011 edition

Michel

that's right, I have met him around 14:00, and he said that you were already gone.

I'm not sure there will be a TiT 2011 edition in Mons, since the organizators had problems with the vicinity of Mons, so they could move all the event in another place... let's see !!

I plan to spend a few days in Saumur at the end of this year. Something like December 27-30. Would love to meet somebody over there.

Michel

Just ten minutes after we split up on saturday, I saw a suspicious looking guy in a Russian uniform searching for the top secret and well hidden serial number on the Priest, guess who that was Wink .
BTW thanks for the wafels:
