The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

That open flatbed would make a very suitable starting platform for an armoured forward logistics vehicle, the same way the M548 is an unarmoured logistics vehicle. Would the British Army be smart eough to recognize reroling its Engineer vehicles to the Logistics Corps ... ?

I see what you're getting at, and agree. I think the M548 is actually better suited, just by design because so much more of it's 'footprint" is actually available as cargo space than in the Spartan/Shielder family only because it seems fully half the vehicle length of the latter is occupied by running gear and crew area. M548 is more like a tracked long-bed pickup truck with maybe 3/4's of it's overall length available for cargo, etc.
Of course, they may not be operating any and have no commonality of parts which would be a problem.

Agreed...

... so it's interesting to note that the Rapier missile system, which was mounted on M548 as Tracked Rapier, has been replaced by Starstreak on, you guessed it, the Stormer chassis - same as Shielder. It may be all about commonality, since the Stormer clearly shares more components with the CVR series than M548, and CVR is going to be around for a while (maybe a long while with the problems with FRES).
