Fort Benning Georgia AFV's
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

The new Infantry Museum is outside the Gate so access is open to all. It's free other than special areas and well worth the visit.

Some of these I may have posted earlier this year. As with all my other posts, If you want a certain view of a particular AFV posted ask, I may have it, also, for those new here, my pictures I post are available to anyone to use as long as I'm credited ( Joe_D ) along with this site AFV News/Com Central. More later.

I've never seen an M125 (81mm Mortar) in real life. Just heard of them. As you know in the cav we had the M106 (107mm Mortar).

Is it possible the M113A1 is actually an A2? I think the exhaust outlets were different but I might be wrong.

So, how would you like to be stationed at Benning, Joe?

The number (3036792) from the M4 behind the museum is the same as the M4A1 at St Mihiel s/n 163928 (private owner)

Which one has the correct registration?

BTW Nice to have a new T-72 serial! Thanks!

Also is an M125 at the War Museum in Seoul, ROK. It was open when I was there two weeks ago, and in pretty good shape.

You got me Mark,

A while back I posted the Mortar track from Pomeroy Field and was told it was an M125. I could have just as easily called her an M106, but I believe those would have the brackets on the side to hold the Base Plates and other stuff. I think Tanker 2010 corrected me last time.

So, how would you like to be stationed at Benning, Joe?

Being Retired makes it a moot point, but actually, since the school house is moving there with all the goodies, It wouldn't have bothered me a bit. Nicer local and better post IMO.

Lesley,

I couldn't get access to the Sherman since the place was locked up. More than likely someone copied the paint scheme from a picture. I was thinking of you when I was able to get the SN of the T72.

Joe

I know a certain individual who is interested in 'building' a new volunteer program. Bring some civility to the uncultured, but he'll need some 'semi-local' interested individuals.....

Here is your chance to get 'your baby' running.... Although shes still in RMP, she is going to 'Sand Hill' whenever the tanks begin heading south.

I'll give you a heads up when she is supposed to roll south.

Regards
Don

Smashy,

I believe the Bradley is an M2A2 version, since She was replicating one from OPLAN Cobra II (OIF 1), which 3 ID had. But since She is a museum piece, there's a chance She's a "One Off" prototype or test vehicle not suited for line duty, much like the M1 Fort Knox has that's done up to replicate "Answer This".

I don't know what the cupola on the M59 is like for that one. She was inside the Motor Pool and it was a Sunday. Next time I'm there (I have a feeling soon) I'll find out.
