StuG III
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This vehicle was pulled out of a Bog in the 1990's. I'm not sure how it made its way here, but it has been on display since the 90's.

It will remain here at the Gen George Patton Museum.

The interesting item to this vehicle is the original 'Zermmit' (SP) that covers most of the vehicle:

Using a ladder I was able to access the top of the vehicle, not disturbibg the zermmit.

The interior is in excellent condition , here are a few images for your viewing pleasure.

Don

Looks pretty good to me for being in all that mud. Any translations on the German?

On the breechguard is has "Flare Pistol" on the left, and what looks to be a note that the air pressure in the recuperator to maintain 0-deg elevation must be 87 atmospheres when using arctic hydraulic fluid.

The other is, I think, for radio fuses, or code books. (Sicherung is safety or security).

Last German class: 1982 - And it shows!!

Those are the display vehicle 'story boards' for all the exhibits in the museum.
