The Royal International Air Tattoo, which takes place over the weekend of the 16-17 July 2005 at RAF Fairford, will host over 300 aircraft, including some of the greatest aerobatics display teams at the largest gathering of international air arms anywhere in the world.

I was at Fairford last year.............had to choose this year either Duxford or Fairford......next year I think I'll just make it a double ..................if the wife let's me

I know that Deenee and his mates are at Fairford..................presumably a number of others as well....................

It is a bit of a religion for us - there are four or five of us that go for the arrivals days on Weds through Friday and then go the show on Saturday. Actually, it's just an excuse to drink beer

I'm wondering if you saw the Typhoon display on Thursday? About 2 minutes into the routine, he climbed up to about 8,000 feet, and spiralled down towards us in the viewing enclosure, before heading towards the runway and putting on reheat about 5 feet from the ground... No exaggeration - really was that close to disaster.

In fact, he was so close, that he damaged the runway with the engine exhausts - it had to be repaired before anyone else could use it!

Listening to the ATC, he was called back in to explain his departure from the routine - and rumour has it that he hit trouble because he had not set the correct QNH and QFE into the flight systems, so he thought he was a little higher than he thought! So, all those billions of dollars development nearly up in smoke!

But the rest of the show for us was as ever outstanding. My highlights were the Romanian MiG-21's and the Polish Su-22 Fitter. Plus loads of helos this year, nice bunch from Italy... Best display? Red Arrows gets my vote...

Nope i never made it , it always clashes with a convention for my work, was just hoping someone would get some nice pics and info...


Maybe next year i hope, my RC club usually plan trips to airshows etc usually duxford, maybe next year i can try and get them intrested in this one.

LOL!! It was too hot to eat - I had to keep drinking lager!!

Do you remember the year when an An-12 from Bulgaria (I think), or could have been the Czech Republic, opened the back ramp and started selling T-shits and their local beer??

I think they were raising some cash for their flight home! But it was good to look round one of those old things!
