The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi,

This guy is at the Ft Lewis Museum, outside. The museum is presently closed, but an intrepid photographer quickly discovers that nobody is there on a weekend and the grounds aren't really all that difficult to infiltrate. In fact "walking over there" is more accurate than "infiltrating"...

Pretty vanilla turtle, as far as I can tell:

Enjoy!
Chuck

Is all that rust?! Almost looks like a small arms hard target.

Yup...these are all sitting out in the weather, and Ft Lewis gets a lot of that. I'm pretty sure this thing hasn't moved in the 3 years since I was last here. Kind of sad, really.

Is it just my old eyes or is this still fitted with the original engine air cleaner boxes?

Your eyes are old, but yes those are the original sideloaders. That is somewhat rare as almost all I've seen have early toploaders.

What can I say? Gary O has seen me squinting at models, the eyes ARE old!

Gary, I agree, there are few original side-loader air cleaners on the gate guardians and park residents.
