National Museum of the Pacific War, Fredericksburg, TX
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Posted a gallery of photos from the National Museum of the Pacific War, Fredericksburg, TX. We visited in June of 2008. Since that time the museum has opened the new Bush Gallery and a lot of what we saw outdoors is now displayed inside. It’s a great collection of stuff and a very well done museum. Japanese and US AFVs, lots of artillery, a restored PT boat, aircraft – including a very rare “Rex” floatplane (wasn’t on display when we were there! Sad ) - even the HA-19 Japanese mini-sub captured on Dec 8th. The Pacific Combat Zone area of the museum is also used for re-enactments.

While inside the museum, we spoke with a docent who was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He had served aboard the USS Bagley (DD-386) and shared his experiences of December 7th and also Guadalcanal. When we visited Pearl Harbor the following December we stood on the deck of the USS Missouri and looked across the harbor to where the Bagley had been moored on Dec 7th, 1941. Having spoken with him made the trip and the experience of being where it had happened all the more poignant and powerful.

Take a look -
