Saumur
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I totally agree on gun barrels that are pointed downward!

Nice looking T34. One thing I don't like is main gun barrels that are pointed downward. An AFV looks much better when the main gun is level or pointed up just a bit.

Thanks for great photos!
Sgt, Scouts Out!

anyway that is a fake barrel, and the mantlet is fake too.
I think that the Saumur museum has received an empty turret. You can see that some accessories on the hull (like the driver's hatch) are fake too.
However, they have another more complete turret in the reserves, with the original mantlet and barrel.

I realized the driver's hatch is a fake, but failed to notice the barrel and mantlet are fakes too. Thanks for the pointer.

A Quick look around Saumur, unfortunately nothing is quite like seeing it in person.
Put it on your list for something you must do

Dennis I had your gallery among my bookmarks already Smile

I realized just now that the 8.8 cm Flak was visible when you visited the Museum. I missed it both in 2001 and 2010. I remember at some point I saw its info board, but the gun was missing.

At which date you were there?
I wonder if P-O knows something more, maybe they are restoring/repainting the gun.

The 8.8 cm, together with the Panther under restoration, will be a good excuse to go back for another visit. Maybe to see the "Carousel" too.

That weird painting on the wall doesn't help getting good pictures... But the Trippel is a cool and pretty rare vehicle:
