Tiger in Australia?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Interesting rumour, but any truth behind it?
"They need a good shake up over there but i still think we are worse off here in oz.We have our one and only Tiger I still buried at our GMH car factory complex and nobody is doing anything about it.It's driving me nut's and sooner or later i will go down there and plead for them to dig it out before it's too late

There is photo evidence of some WWII German and Italian AFVs being present in Australia at some point. Badly shot up Panzer III and M14/41 kind of things.

I've never seen or heard of a Tiger though.

Never heard of that as well. Seems like a myth really. Some german half tracks and armoured cars were transported to Australia during or after the north african campaign, but they were scrapped in the 1950/60s I've read.
Why would they bury 50-60tons of steel when they could have scrapped it, seems untrue.

well some part of it could be true

The M4A3E8 Sherman with an M2 plow of the AFF Tank museum has been digged up in the US
It was cheaper to dig a hole and put it in, then bring it to a scrap yard

And that was around 1960

Cutting up a Tiger with the thick armour plating and then transporting it would have taken considerable time and money, so burying could have been cheaper

However it seams rather unlikely that it would be a Tiger

Michel
