American Gun Trucks from Vietnam War Period
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Are there any original American Gun Trucks from Vietnam War Period which survived to present days?

Or only repros ?

Any info and photos are most welcome.

"Eve of Destruction" at the Ft. Eustis museum of transportation is original.

(for those of "a certain age", the name was taken from a popular song of the time..it was Number One at some point in 1965)

"Eve of Destruction"

FWIW, this was sitting out beside the museum from more "recent times."

AFAIK, the EofD is the only true gun truck. All of the other ones where returned to the origianl cargo configurion before turn in as the units stood down.

Neil,

Don't forget "The Colonel" at Ft. Lewis. Not sure what it's based on.

That pdf rapidshare site lights my anti-virus up like a Christmas Tree, FWIW.

I highly recommend "The Hard Ride" by James Lyles.

That was something that was being built in Kuwait. It was never finished and it did't see use.

"The Colonel" is a M54 with a M113 hull in the bed.
