Ordnance Museum Updates
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I stopped by the Ordnance Museum today to show some of my co-workers around on a field day (love that my new job means I could do that).

The Museum was/is mostly closed up. All that was open inside is the lobby, where they have set up the gift shop register & merchandise. The rest of the interior was closed off - not sure if this the status going forward or just temporary.

The M3 Bradley is gone - presume it has gone south to Fort Lee. Same with the M113 and T114 at Fanshaw Field Parade Ground - all the pads at the parade field are now empty.

The T12 bomb is also gone from the front of the building.

They were also doing some work in the warehouse.

Only "new" thing I saw was a M922-based vehicle called a "CPV TB" - which I assume is Command Post Vehicle Test Bed (I did find a 1986 report online that referred to such a vehicle at APG's Human Engineering Lab) - at Susquehanna Ave & Boothby Hill Ave.

FYI, I am aiming to head up to APG on my day off Friday so I can get at a peak at those dataplates before they are packed up and/or shipped off to Fort Lee.

Naturally, I'll also look out for any moves, etc.

Update from the Ordnance Museum director via the former Ordnance Museum Foundation:

"Six and a half months to go until the end of BRAC and the move timeline for the Ordnance Museum to clear APG continues to move ahead with the last scheduled shipment of restored systems and the munitions collection slated for late July early August.
...
As the funding for the Climate Controlled Storage Facility at Ft. Lee, VA is still being considered by the Congress, warehouse space is in the process of being refurbished at Ft. Lee to provide a proper but temporary storage space for our most sensitive artifacts."

Interesting to see the Ordnance Museum items mentioned in Wheatcroft's legal statement:
