Bovington
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I better don't answer. The numbers are pretty scary Shocked

Apart from kidding, I take two types of pictures:

- Portraits. The kind of full view of the vehicle I post here or on Flickr

- Walkaround. Details of the vehicles, mostly oriented to be used for modelling

There was a time while I was an active scale modeler, so walkarounds were my main interest. I don't build models these days Crying or Very sad
As a result I am getting more "portraits" than I used to. Often I try different angles and lens/exposition combination too.

As for the amount of pictures... On a typical day I take 800 to 1200 shots. Much less if I already visited the place before. All in all I am very glad I took those 2 TB hard-drive a few months ago Laughing

Some additional info on the Covenanter (from the Museum):

This tank was given to the Museum by the Lord Ashcombe, after being discovered on his Surrey estate in 1983, where it had lain buried for many years. Restoration was completed in 1985

Hi,

Any idea what the three small crosses signify?

I've seen similar on a few other tanks in Bovington.
I guess they refer to crew members, but I am just guessing

Any info on how the vehicle got buried there? Sounds very odd to me.

Matilda I

This vehicle was recovered from Otterburn Ranges. It was later restored by Bob Grundy. It is powered by a modern Rover car engine and now used for displays in the Museum arena
