The Military Museums - Calgary, AB gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hello All,

We’ve added a gallery of photos from The Military Museums - Calgary, AB. It’s a great multi-service museum. Terrific displays and dioramas - something for everyone!

hi Vagabond
you'll have to ask LDSHRecceboy how many different Sherman parts make up the Sherman in the lobbies diorama, tanks aren't my specialty. But the Jeep in the dio is actually 1946 CJ though.

Yup, good Museum, drove the T-72 for 20 mins when we had it running, what a beast.
The Sherman is a post war version ( all we had on hand for the gallery)and not a war time version as shown in the full size dio. They have lots of full size dio's in the museum of 6 different units that were from the Calgary area. My ole unit's gallery is one of the few places were you can see both sides of a Victoria cross in the medel gallery.

Hello Vagabond,
Again very nice pictures! Did you see a Chieftain (11FD74) in the museum and do you have the s/n of the T-72? I have only a part of that number (M..T22CNM), missing the 2nd and 3rd letter.

Regards,
Lesley

Hi Lesley -

Thanks!

No to both questions - I didn't see the Chieftain and I don't have a shot of the T72 SN. Sorry!

Maybe recceboy can help. He's driven the thing!

Re: the post war Shermans - I heard from a friend that after WW2 very few Shermans were allowed back into Canada, hence the post war versions on display.

No Chieftain there, I have a set of walkaround photos when the East German T-72 showed up, will find them for you and will post the serial number.

Hi Lesley! Hi Folks!

- L.Delsing

Hello Vagabond,
...... do you have the s/n of the T-72? I have only a part of that number (M..T22CNM), missing the 2nd and 3rd letter.

Regards,
Lesley

Check out this photo over at Primeportal.

Jim Caddo has a major set of walk around photos of the T72 at the Museum of the Regt.s in Calgary posted on Prime Poretal.

Hope it helps!
