Yes, it is new. It is known as EFP armor and I forget what it stands for. It weighs about 1,200 lbs. It is obvious what it is meant for. The 56th just deployed w/ it - I believe that is the unit in the photo training at the JRTC - and one of the currently deployed Stryker Bdes got it retrofitted while in Iraq. They have had it for a few months.
