Abandoned Army: 200 tanks left in Russian woods
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

"The fate of 200 tanks left in woods in the Urals, is raising further questions from the public over mismanagement in the Russian army. This amateur footage reportedly shows locals with unrestricted access to the tanks, walking freely among them, and even climbing inside them. And that's despite claims by the authorities they're being guarded around the clock, and will be relocated next month. Locals say the Ministry of Defence brought the tanks to the woods in November."

I would like an T-72 in the back yard, if I had known this I could have picked one up for free Wink

The last bit of the video is most interesting
There are estimated 10.000 surplus tanks standing around at various Russian army bases

And it is getting more because they want to keep the factories open....

Although a 200 tanks need a little bit more patrols and guards, I'am not surprised. Even in 1988, 1989 it was possible in East Germany, Poland and Hungary to walk on a Soviet air base without seeing a fence or warning signs... And then ending in the shelter area or hangar. Those were the days Cool
