I hadn't heard about this before but it's fascinating... or at least pretty damn cool...

...although choosing Lakehurst, NJ as the site for the first launch sounds too much like tempting fate.... I happened to drive by Moffet field in CA last week and the blimp hangars are still there as an alternate site, just sayin'...

At a time when the military is looking for more cost-effective options for intelligence and surveillance gathering in places like Afghanistan, fueling the blimp will cost approximately $11,000 for a 21-day period of service.

I like the idea of airships but, at that speed, is it really a potential for use overseas?
It's gonna be one helluvan easy target.
Piney could hit that with a bogey and his Sunday comb.
