Tank in Lowell Indiana
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi all. I found a tank in Lowell IN while traveling in that part of the country. I stopped and took some pics including the serial plate... Wink

Here is the serial#...

I haven't forgotten about the serial for the Tank in Dixon, IL. I've talked to my buddy who knows the person responsible for putting that project together (and he lives there too..lol). He's going to get me that serial soon I hope... Smile

Hmm... I think thats some sort of overhaul SN. The real tank SN should be on the left front low lug, or on the rear hull - check the serial number guide or the M60 guide... According to the TACOM Registry this one should be AAD rebuild SN 2466A.

That's the rebuild tag for the final drive. It's rivited to the casing. That rubber piece against it is from the sand sheild that runs from the rear fender to the tail light assembly gaurd.

Nice picture, looks like they haven't taken the christmas lights off yet Laughing .

I took more pics, but none of them have the serial number on them. I seen that tag and thought that was it...lol

Don't worry we'll get you trained Wink There are a couple reference pamphlets in the sticky area that Piney did a great job of putting together. One is a generic 'Identify your monument tank' type and the other is specific to M60 series.. They print off rather well and you can keep it in the glove box of the car
