APG #1 - T1 (M6 heavy pilot) & M4A1E8 Sherman
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I visited the museum yesterday to check out the recent changes.

The T1 & M4A1E8 are mow at the parking lot near the museum, along with the Elefant...

Doh! You're right, corrected...

BTW, unfortunately I am told the T1 tracks were destroyed when it was pulled off the old Mile... Personally I cant help but think it would be possible to at least cosmetically piece them together & put them back on... But perhaps it is harder than doing the same on a model tank that weighs just a few ounces... Wink

Neil,

is this M4A1E8 the former "Niederbronn"? An M4A1E8 carrying this French nickname has been seen few years ago at Aberdeen..

Yes, I am 99% certain it is Niederbronn... Unless another M4A1E8 Sherman showed up, and Niederbronn disappeared in the last few months... Wink

I had a look to your photos of the Niederbronn before repainting and noticed that indeed, its real name was "Niederbronn II" (Niederbronn two), that is to say in the French army, the second tank to carry this name.

One often see WW2 Shermans carrying names such as "Gascogne", "Gascogne II" and "Gascogne III"..

By the way, the M4A1E8 "Niederbronn II" carried the insignia of the 14th Cavalry Group / 14th Constabulary Regiment/ 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment on the turret, before being repainted :
