Tamiya 1/16 Sherman
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

It is the M4 105MM with the E8 suspension. No real faults with it, authentic radial engine sound and howitzer gun, machine gun, gun elevation and turret rotation sounds.

Plenty of aftermarket upgrade goodies available for this kit to virtually make a any variant with the HVSS.

Here's my M4A1E8 just about finished.

And the build blog.

The hull and turret are dimensionally correct though?

Nice blog! Full of information.

To be honest, I've never heard about anyone putting a set of calipers on it. As far as I know it looks okay and nothing stands out as looking odd. You will have to add some weld details to the original welded upper hull, fill in the toy antenna hole in the back and if you are to really run it full R/C, an idler upgrade would help this kit. Most of this is the original 1974 arrangement and the plastic idler wheels ride on metal with no provisions for bearings or even bushings.

It does lack details on the turret, the M52 mantlet and in general all around but most of us just add those as we go along on the build.

Looks good Jeff. Please post more as you progress. This site always needs more sharing of modeling projects!
