M60 in 1960
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

It's definately an old picture and most likey test ops at Knox or Aberdeen.

Notice she has no shock absorbers, something all the original early M60's did not come with. Was a later retrograde mod when refurbished. Also is set up for the old Crouse-Hinds white light only search light. Look at the older stowage bracket on the turret ventilator. Also the mounting points on the mantlet have no 2" mounting balls or extensions which were not used until the VSS-1 came out. You can also see the cable bracket just to the left of the lifting eye of (also an early turret). These were cut off when upgraded. Only selected tanks had the Crouse-Hinds light. When M60's were upgraded with IR sights they were equipped with VSS-1 searchlights.

Nice find Mark, too bad I can't make out the registration number on the sponson box Mad .

I don't think it is Aberdeen ( I don't think Aberdeen has a hill as high as the one in the background Rolling Eyes )
