More monument stuff...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Jim,

which country??

If you want something for Europe, you could use www.ww2museums.com/default.asp

It is an Dutch site also available in English
You can look for monument, cementery, museum or point of interest (P.O.I.)
Pick an country and then filter on what you are looking for

The only problem is, that it is not alway's clear in which section it would fit Sad
So an monument could be listed as cementery or P.O.I.

I do not know of something similair for other continents / country's

Michel

I wasn't too clear Michel - I was after a listing of military equipment monuments by country rather than actual war memorial /monument type things.

I could go through all ryans pdfs but I was trying to save myself a months typing Wink

I don't think this will help your effort Jim but I'll throw it out as a neat resource for those in the U.S. and Canada

HMDB.org is the 'Historical Marker Database' it is mainly dedicated to the roadside plaques that we find strewn along North American highways and byways.

Looking at one (semi random) in the Military Category there is an M114 in the background at the monument

www.hmdb.org/marker.as...rker=24347

Late breaking addition - I just noticed they have several other countries (Brazil, France, Germany, Ireland, and others) so it may be of wider interest that I thought

Hi Jim,

the site I mentioned earlier, still can be used

Only most of the military equipment will be in the section point of interest, rather then monument

However I know an military monument in the Netherlands, for artillery crew members that have been killed during war and peace keeping operations
And part of this monument are 2 WW2 artillery pieces

www.ww2museums.com/art...-Harde.htm

The problem remains the same, some monuments are both:
war monument and military equipment monument Wink

A good find - plus you can search on Tank which gives some definite hits:
