Hi folks,

during my last visit to the Army Cars museum at Zwijndrecht they also had this little gun

It is an C.47 F.R.C. Mod.31 also known as Canon de 47 Antichar SA-FRC

It's origin is Belgium

Trichenor, do you have more information about this gun??
All I could find is in French Sad

The sign besides the gun doesn't give an lot of info

Hello Michel

This is what I found about the C.47 F.R.C. Mod.31 .

Its a 47mm anti-tank canon build by Fonderie Royale de Canons (Royal factory for canons) at Luik. About 750 where delivered to the Belgian army in the years before WWII. Two versions existed, one with wooden wheels used by the infantry and the other with rubber wheels ( like the one you found) for the cavalry. As far as I could find it seemed superior to the french 47mm canon. It was also the main gun for the T-13 series armoured vehicle ( one T-13B2 can be seen in brussels). Not many survived the war, I know the Brussels museum should have two of them and one is in the USA and now there is one in Holland.

I just checked my pictures, one of these was visible in Brussels, just alongside the Vickers Utility and the T-13 (april 2009)

If you want I could post some additional photo's of it

What's realy interesting is the vertical closing breech block
I thought they only used that in tanks, because of the limited space inside tanks

Apparently they also used it on this gun
