What is it?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

It's reminiscent of some Soviet T-54/T-55 tanks that I heard were converted with jet engines to blow out oil fires in the Gulf - Googling on that might give something.

Recently discussed elsewhere, I think it was generally agreed that most likely application was mine uncovering and perhaps destruction as well (with enough heat). Lighter vehicles (with what appear to be the same probably Nene engine arrangement) have been used for runway clearance of ice/snow.
