4.7cm PaK (t) auf Pzkpfw I Ausf B at Aberdeen
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi All. I am wondering if anyone knows of the fate of Aberdeen's 4.7 cm (t) auf Pzkpfw I Ausf B (also has been called Panzerjager I)? It was there in 1971 (a friend of mine took a photo of it then) but by 1979 when I was starting to go there, it was no longer in the field display. They were notorious for giving away or "loaning" out vehicles back then. Just curious if any one knows its fate. Thanks,
Rick

There's only one listed on P-O's .pdf, at the WTS in Koblenz.
Maybe that's the one, having been "repatriated" back to der Fatherland?

Confirming what Pzkpfw-e said, the Ordnance Museum's PzJg I 4.7cm SPG, Catalog No. FMAR598, was transferred to the German BWB in 1981 and is now at WTS Koblenz.

Thanks Neil, It's apparently the only survivor of WW 2. At least it wasn't scrapped! Rick

Where did Aberdeen get it from? I guess North Africa, as they were obsolete by the time of Normandy.

This is what I have:

Unique ID 15: Koblenz Panzerjager I

If anyone has a picture of it at APG, I'd love to add it.

I'll doublecheck, but I believe my notes simply said it the "accession" to the museum inventory was via the Army Technical Intelligence Team. Not sure if there was anything more but will check.

There is a picture of it at APG in Tank Data. In fact I found the same pic online - typical late 1940s APG picture, 3/4 view on a grass field. Will look for it again if I get the chance and/or no one else finds it first.

The good news is that I know I have a slide of it while it was at Aberdeen. The bad news is that my slides are buried in my rental locker. I have several hundred slides of Aberdeen AFV's from 1978 through 1985, just gotta track em down

I have a picture of it up on my photobucket account. It was taken during a visit in 1976. You should be able to find it by going to s698.photobucket.com/a...Alf-Adams/ then check all albums and go down near the bottom to the album titled US Army Ordnance Museum Aberdeen MD 1976. The picture of the PzJag 1 is on page 2 of the album. Feel free to use it as well as any others that are of interest. I would have made the above URL as a link, but I can't figure out how to do it. I know there is a way, but it doesn't seem to be intuitive to me so you will have to cut and paste for now. I have been taking AFV pictures for many years and am putting them up here as time permits. Hope this helps the cause.

Yeah, all my info says is that accession was via "Tech Intell Team WWII." I do not have the year of accession, or where it was captured, etc.

Here it is at an earlier time at APG.

Alf, I've also used your photo of the M7B2 at Bovington (now MVTF) as I had no photo of it at all. I'd love to add all your photos but unfortunately I don't have time at the moment as it's fairly time consuming (let me know if you'd like to!). To see what photos of yours I've used at any time, this is your 'contributor link':
