Halftrack - 2-1/2 ton truck bash up?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Halftrack - 2-1/2 ton truck bash up?

Anyone recall the source pic of a 2 1/2 ton truck with the front end from an M3 scout car or a halftrack? I think this one off vehicle, used by US forces in NW Europe appeared in a tankograd title or perhaps elsewhere. Thanks in advance for any help.

You mean this?

strangernn.livejournal...25964.html

It seems it was used by smugglers in the immediate post-war period according to the text.

Other sources:
minitracks.forumpersos...rebandiers (with more pictures)

www.gabelou.com/forum/...6&t=30 (needs registration to view, but in the Google Images results page also mentions smuggling)

Yeah, I think that's it! Had no idea it was the original Millennium Falcon in a sense....

Ha-ha, a very apt analogy indeed.
Although, the original Millennium Falcon should be this: strangernn.livejournal...14500.html

I know that smuggling was very common directly after WW2 from the Netherlands to Belgium and Germany
Especially butter

These smugglers used all sorts vehicle's either Allied or German
Armored vehicle's where populair because most of them had good cross-country ability, where sturdy and bullet proof

Most smugglers where better equiped then the regular police or army
