...we have a first class exhibit going on here. I've never been a P-head, but did have the blessing of driving a 904 in my wee youth (smallest car I've ever actually driven, pictures do NOT convey this). It was a 4 and not the later 6, but it was still a beast. My recent SRT8 acquisition was narrowly ahead of the Cayman, but I needed to show some restraint and there's something about 6.4 liters and a trunk that proved irresistible.

Of the various videos, be sure to at least view the "Farther,Faster" one, which features among other things, the gnarliest beast ever (that wasn't a CanAm car), the 917's, interviews with Derek Bell. And the galleries are a hoot. Be sure to scroll down:

I hadn't viewed that one, but glad you mentioned it because it has some great 904 (aka: GTS) footage. I think the 180mph figure is a bit....optimistic, but it was a great car (it really excelled at hillclimbs vs. large scale road races).

While actually dimensionally larger in length and wheelbase than my GT6, it seemed much smaller because it was mid-engined and much less tall. "Useable space" was less because it wasn't called for and the GT6 (itself a tiny car) was front engined with a lot of driver setback and a rear "hatch" (basically a Spitfire with the Le Mans coupe body).

We owe somebody for that one. I forget if it was a Wilde Sau or a Baron who's title might be disputable. In any case, that icon is posted on Photobucket more-or-less in perpetuity and the bandwidth is not critical. Wink
