Post subject: Surviving 6inch M1908 howitzers

I know there are surviving 6-inch M1908 howitzers at Fort Sill, Lima, Ohio and Greenville, SC.

Are there any others?

Regards,

Charlie

There's also one listed at: 7th Ave. East, North St. Paul. MN at: 45.00 deg. 53.95N x 92 deg. 59' 12.95W. I verified this in Google, and Google Earth. Rick

Thanks.

John Anderson on the warmemorial.us website says there's another one at Kenosha, WI but no details about location.

Regards,

Charlie

I Saw John Anderson war memorial, but could not verify it. There are probably others around! Rick

Lima has two, Ft Sill, North St Paul, Greenville, and Kenosha each have one, anyone have a pic of the Kenosha one?

I found one of the Lima, OH guns at the corner of S.Shawnee St and E.Elm St (40.737909,-84.087538) - where's the other one?

The Greenville, SC M1908 is at North Academy Street, (34.856373,-82.394337) - it's under trees but can be seen with Google street view.

I'm writing up the M1908 howitzer for Landships II (landships.info) and I like to add surviving guns to the article if there are any.

Regards,

Charlie

Here you go Charlie,
40° 44.272'N 84° 5.247'W Lincoln Park Lima

40° 43.968'N 84° 7.655'W Faurot Park Lima

Both are nicely painted, the wheels were off the Faurot Park one the day I saw it.

Lima also has a 6pdr MkX tube only downtown at 40° 44.245'N 84° 6.383'W

Thank you.

I have an image of the Faurot Park howitzer with the wheels off. I haven't found an image of the Lincoln Park howitzer and there's no Google street view in that neighbourhood.

The Kenosha howitzer may have left the state - there's a reference on the website of the Russell Military Museum to an M1908 gun. The Museum used to be called the Kenosha Military Museum but moved across the border to Zion, IL.

Regards,

Charlie
