New Canadian Minister of National Defence
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: New Canadian Minister of National Defence
The new Canadian Minister of National Defence is Gordon OConnor BGen (Retd). His bio says he started in the Armoured Corps, and rose through the ranks to BGen. His last position (ten years ago) was Director General of Procurements. He was reelected by a wide margin. His riding takes in the Western end of Ottawa, with every industry from the brightest high tech firms to lumber mills and stone quarries. He previously served as the Opposition Critic for Defence. Nice to see a zipperhead do well for himself.

No discussion of armour or armaments in his first days on the job, but he has acknowledged the troops in AF have good kit and more is incoming. I suspect he will not be able to reverse the AGS program (why try when our Leopards deployed exactly twice), but will do as much as he can to get recruiting and personnel levels up to requirements.
