The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hello. I just came across this site, and I joined today. Very informative. I am a modeler, and lately have been concentrating on OIF subjects. I am very inspired by today's US soldier, and am lucky to know one of the tankers who participated in the two thunder runs that took down Baghdad in 2003. I made his tank for him in miniature and it was a great honor to present it to him this past summer.

Although I do not have as much to contribute as most people here, and I am a horrible image poster, I appreciate this site nonetheless.

Cheers.

Bob

Smile Welcome to AFV NEWS! Don't worry about how much you post. No one keeps score here! Laughing As for posting images, its pretty easy (Hey, I even learned how to do it!) just read the tutorials at the top of the discussion lists.

It's here at Armorama. I made a diorama for it too. I made part of an overpass to symbolize all the tough fighting that took place whenever they went under one. But I never really took any good photos of that before I gave it up.

Burik, its good to have you on board. I got your e-mail on my military account. To bad we couldn't have gotton together when you were here on post. Hope to here more from you here and see some of those models. I don't model much, (military and children restrict my time), but I do like looking at them. Have you ever done any M1064 Mortar Tracks in diorama? I have been looking for a good one for a while now. Look forward to your posts. If you ever need pictures for reference, you've come to the right site.

Actually, I do plan on doing a mortar track conversion of a Tamiya M113. I did a book for Concord on the 3rd ID and I learned a lot about the thunder runs. The mortar guys did a lot to save the day at Objective Curley. I would like to do some sort of dio of a track on Hwy 8. There were some photos taken of them through heavy smoke that I can use as reference.

Right now I am doing a HEMTT fueler, and that too will probably be a 3rd ID vehicle.

Hi Bob!

Always good to hear from a newbie! Welcome Sir!

I try to do 1/35 scale AFVs. A little of my military experience was around M114s Sad , M113s Razz , M551s Confused , and M151s Neutral as a 11D Scout which is now known as 19D.

Sgt, Scouts Out! Smile

Hi Bob,
As we've already been in contact via PM, I'll just add my "Welcome" to that of the others here and say we're pleased to have you join us. Anthing we can do to help with image posting or whatever, just ask!

Cheers!
