Just returned from Sun 'n Fun 2006 Experimental Aircraft Association flyin and convention in Lakeland, Florida. We had a grand time and enjoyed all the new planes and flying accessories.

Sad to say that the attendance of participating aircraft and experimental aircraft companies was down dramatically. I'm guessing but would say it's down by a third.

The most innovation I saw was in "glass' cockpits. There must have been twenty vendors hawking new panels. Pricey stuff but neat.

Most exciting ? Titan Aircraft's T51, a 3/4 scale replica P51, all alunimum with retractable gear and a jump seat for mama-san. Second most exciting ? Loehle Aircraft's scaled down Spitfire replica in wood and fabric. These are affordable kit planes for the amateur builder/pilot. Only thing missing is the sounds of the Merlin engine. Oh well......maybe next year !
