Ram not Wolverine
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Ram not Wolverine

Dick Harley wonders in his article on the Archer in the May-Aug 2006 edition of AFV news whether the Ram 3-inch SP might have been the mysterious Wolverine. Regretably, the answer is no. The Ram 3-inch SP was a one-off "working mock-up" built in late 1942 to enable the Canadian Army test the capabilities of the M10 before any complete vehicles of that type were available. It was never intended to go into production, and never received any name. other than 3-inch Ram SP. Once trials were finished in June 1943 the vehicle was sent to the Canadian Artillery School in the UK for driver and gunnery training.

Wolverine was suggested in March 1942 as a possible name for was to be the Ford Lynx Scout car, but in the end the unloved Wolverine never joined the Ram, Fox, Lynx, Otter, Wolf, Kangeroo, Badger, Cougar, Mudcat, Muskrat, Snake, Skink, Barracuda or Rattlesnake in the Canada's WWII military menagerie.
