airborne 6 pdr anti-tank gun
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: airborne 6 pdr anti-tank gun
A picture of the nisei 442 anti-tank co personnel on p.278 in First Airborne Task Force by De Trez shows an unusual muzzle brake or counter weight for the 6 pdr. It is not the usual one seen in Normandy or Arnhem or during the Rhine ladings. Could this be a Mediterreanean Depot modification of in-theater 6 pounders? It seems similar though not exactly the same as some seen on some Churchill/Cromwell/Crusader 6 pounder guns. Sorry, this is from memory. It is also similar to to that seen in the movie "Immortal Battailon" with David Niven. I`d like more information on the guns used by the 442 anti-tank Co during the Dragoon landings Would they have had the fittings to fold back the trail legs? Any info would be appreciated.
