My son and I stopped by the Korea Memorial Display that is at the corner of 1st Cav HQ's parade field. They have an M4, M26, M24, and an M105mm Howitzer. I will post those shortly but here is the Sherman. The left rear tow lug read 6159, so I assume this is the serial number. On the front left upper portion of the hull was P5944, 23487. Under the right front lift lug was 145. I have other stampings but these I believe are the most important. I noticed the wide metal track as well. No engine but one rusty interior.

Hi Jeff!

Another nice looking (on the outside anyway) Sherman.
Another one with the single pin T-66 all metal track block. That makes four? Two of them at Ft. Hood!

Jeff, are you sure you was not a Scout in another life time?
Sgt, Scouts Out! Smile

Hi Roy, I have a "knack" for finding things, (except my wallet and keys sometimes, haha). I know of possibly two more Shermans on post, one may be at MATES, and the other is at the III Corp parade field. The II Corp Sherman I have to check out while in uniform due to its proximity to the building. The MATES tank may not be a Sherman, no one seems to know for sure except that there are two tanks and one is an M-60. After the M4's are done being posted, I plan to start on the chassis variations, ie; M10, the Priest, etc... I may try and get back to your Lingle and climb back inside again as well to snap a few more pics of hatches, latches, pedals, etc...
I want to compile that list of M4's and varients for sure. When are you and Doug coming by?!?!?!

Jeff,
Another great find! Looks like a late production M4A3 hull with a turret cast by Continental Foundry & Machine Co.(CFM-H) in E. Chicago IN. Very nice!

I went back to this Sherman today on my lunch as well, (I miss alot of lunches lately). I was one digit short on the serial number, the entire serial number is 61594. I sent this info to Joe DeMarco so hopefully I get some good information back. I have positive serial numbers for 8 of the 12 Shermans on this post so far, as well as one M74, M36B1, and M7 Preist. I think two of the Shermans may remain unknown, but the one just needs some sanding I believe for its number to show.

Joe DeMarco contacted me today and gave me the following information on this Sherman;

Hi Jeff,

I'm really impressed with the success you are having uncovering the serial numbers on these tanks!
61594 is another M4A3(76)HVSS built by Chrysler at the Detroit Tank Arsenal in Jan, 1945.
This is the one at the 1st Cav Div HQs Parade Field, right?
Do you think you could get the E8020 & turret info off that at some point?
It would have been about the 3249th M4A3(76) built by them, so the number on the right edge - B2939 (or 89) seems a little low for that...
The corresponding USA Number of 61594 would have been 30114616.

You reported the M4A3(76)HVSS at the III Corp Parade Field as S/N 61587.
Those two probably would have been built on the same day.
You said # 61587 had B3229 on the right edge, which is much closer as an approximate build sequence number.

I don't have any historical info about # 61594.
As mentioned, I like to collect photos & docs that state or show the serial and/or Reg. Numbers on Shermans.
It's obvious that quite a few of the Chrysler M4A3(76)s from this Production Order served with the 1st or 2nd ADs at Ft Hood in the 50s.
