M26 Pershing with a Sherman turret...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Apparently it was on Ebay back in April, located in Tampa... I cant make the pics come up anymore, but am dying to see what this thing looked like...

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotor...dZViewItem

"We are told it is a Pershing M-26 with a sherman turret."

Of course to a layman, thats what a T20 or a T23 would look like, but I'm not holding my breath... I've e-mailed the seller for any pics.

Anybody remember seeing this tank? Shoot, I've been to Tampa twice!

Neil

Well, I heard back from the seller, apparently it really is as described, a Pershing with a Sherman turret (and a 75 one at that, albeit with what appears to be a fake barrel).

Sorry for the small size of the pics, thats how I got 'em...

Guess I can see why it didnt sell, kinda a dog... Not too many private Pershings out there, but where would you get a turret from? Although... If you got a Sherman 76 turret you could sorta make a T23 out of it.... Albeit with the wrong suspension... Although the production version T23E3 was to have a torsion bar suspension...

Just got some better pictures. Again, real frankenstein monster. I cant tell if the turret is just sitting on the hull or is somehow attached... Looks like the turret was formerly a range target?

Hi Neil!

Could we say that is an example of never say never when it comes to the Sherman tank? Confused

That is sad to see. The individaul that did that should be ran over by that 'frankenstein monster'. Neutral What on earth was he thinking?

So many people have worked so hard to restore vehicles and for someone to do that is...... Evil or Very Mad

Hi Hanno! Hi Folks!

That is wild! A Sherman hull with a Pershing turret! I wonder what the story behind that switch is? Was it done before it became a range target or after?

That vehicle needs to be recovered and turned over to an AFV museum somewhere. That has be one of the rarest Shermans today.

Great find!
