Particulars on this M-84
- The M-84 mortar carrier was based on the M-59 Armored Personnel Carrier. The mortar was mounted in the passenger compartment, facing the rear, and the roof hatches were reconfigured to include front, center, and rear hinged hatches, all of which folded to the front when the mortar was put into action. The escape hatch in the rear ramp was relocated from the left to the right side, and the mortar ground mount was then stowed on the left of the ramp.
- This vehicle has the later installed M13 commander copula with 50 cal MG
- With the mortar system and ammunition removed, passenger seats folded up, and the ramp down, a Jeep could be driven into the carrier compartment.
- This vehicle shows the markings, (green triangle inside a circle) of the earliest OPFOR, called “Aggressor’s,
it was used Army wide from 1948-1965.
- The M-59 / M-84 series were eventually replaced by the M-113 / M-106 family of tracked APC’s in the early 1960’s.

Hi Jeff! Hi Folks!

Super set of photos! We don't get to see the top very often, thanks for taking the time to climb up and take that set of shots!

Question folks. Is that cuplo the same one that was mounted on the M48 tanks?

Super thanks Jeff! Smile
