Replacement for the M2 HB Machine gun? NO!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Replacement for the M2 HB Machine gun? NO!

Hi Folks!

Back when I had to use the old M2 Ma-duce, I wished the Army would buy a replacement that was easier to work with. It sounds like the Army maybe making some progress with the XM-307.

Ran acossed an article over at Defense Update reporting that development is funded through 2007. General Dynamics is now working on a Remotely Operated Variant for use on the FCS vehicles.

Not sure, but I would guess the old M2 HB 50 cal. machine gun is about the oldest item still in service.

The link to the article for those who would like to read it is:
