SupaCAT HMT 400 / MWMIK
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

The Supacat HMT's are in use with UK, Danish and Dutch SpecFor AND, its rumoured, with some of the US Units (or soon about to be). The Aussie SASR and Commando units are about to (some time in end 2007/early 2008, possibly even as late as 2009) going to be operating significant numbers of the 400 and 600 vehicles, with a mix of LRP and Logistics vehicles. The Aussie ones will also have, an RCWS probably CROWS.........

This is the web link for the 600 version but you can see the 4x4 400-version and the 8x8/8x6 800-version (used as the basis for the Portee version with the M-777 155mm ultra-light howitzer, the image you see there)

www.supacat.com/supaca...hmt600.htm

The vehicles are available in simple, open cab, standard unarmoured closed cab & extended cab versions and then the same again but in armoured cab versions.

The air suspension system gives the trucks unparalleled comfort and non-jarring travel, hence the Brits have the unarmoured 600 as the basis of a Electronic Warfare version, the one you see for the 600 page, as the basis in extended armoured cab version, again 600, for the LIMAWS-R mini-HIMARS just ordered and for the SAS vehicles in both 400 and probably 600 versions. Certainly you'll see the 600 version on the web page in sand-coloured, WMIK-equipped versions, so its pretty safe to say this is in both SAS and SASR fleets.

The 8x8 800 version as a Portee was supposed to be favourite for the UK LIMAWS-G (G for gun) BUT this program has been put on indefinite hold due to Fund shortages caused by the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. The current UK Prime Minister is the arse who has persistently short-funded the UK Forces and is the PRIME cause of this latter stupidity............. Twisted Evil

The UK-based SUPACAT poeple are the Originators of these designs BUT the design rights are now owned by Lockheed Martin hence are now licence-built in the UK.

LM have built an armoured version for the USMC role of Tow Tractor for the M-777 and there is a further (lateral) development for the JLTV program (JLTV now being re-evaluated probably for a larger, higher-carrying capacity vehicle).

Below is purportedly a HMT 400 version in use by the Danish SpecFor..........courtesy of my cuzz in NZ and CoCoon at Mil Photos....................

The vehicles carry some under-body and side armour BUT they are NOT IED survivable, but then again you are not going to see these beasties on the road, far more likely to bump into them whilst you are somewhere in the Wilds! Mr. Green

I hope this helps..................

Regards

BUG
