AFVs in Ken Burns's "The War"
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: AFVs in Ken Burns's "The War"

I haven't seen all of the first three episodes of Ken Burns's new documentary on America's experience in WWII. However, it seems that AFVs featured in the archival film are pretty much in sinc with when they were actually fielded.

I did notice a T-34 was shown at the very beginning of Operation Barbarossa and a long-barrelled PzKpfw IV made it into the invasion of Poland.

At one point a battery of 105mm-equipped M3 halftracks was bombarding the Jerries in Italy. When the guns fired the 'tracks seemed to jump up and backwards . . . kinda like what happened when the M551's main gun loosed off a round.
