PzKw III's in Polish service
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: PzKw III's in Polish service

I recently found an older reference book in the series 'Focus On Armor Camouflage & Markings' that shows a picture of captured pzkw III's being used by Polish crews in North Africa in 1942. The caption states these were never used in combat agianst their formor owners; probably only for training until the Poles were issued Allied equipment. Has anyone else ever heard anything about this unit or seen any other pictures.

picture is from No. 2 British North Africa; Kenneth Jones; Almark Publication

Let me know if I need to add anything else for copyright info on this. thanks

Hi Fritzday! Hi Folks!

Very interesting find!

I think you have the copyright requirments covered.

I have seen a number of photos of Allied equipment that was remarked, and sometimes repainted, that was used by the Axis.

I remember a British unit in NWE that used a Panther for a while and the Soviets used a few Panthers but this is the first time I have heard of German AFVs being used in platoon or possible company strength by an Allied unit.

One other event was the Australian forces in Toburk (?) that recycled some Italian tanks.

Now lets see now, where is that Mk III kit and what color was that the British used in North Africa? So many ideas, so little time! Maybe later, currently working on a Stryker ICV, M1A2 Sep. and a M47.

Sgt, Scouts out!
