O/T but I think Doug and M14 fans will be interested
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Back in '72 my collegiate ROTC company had M-14s, but when the time came for us to cross a swimming pool on a rope we were given rubber M-16 mockups. I guess the cadre didn't want us to get pool water in the 14's.

thanks for the post, winter slumps had me looking over my M1 and M1A this weekend. funny you post this now. we have had a bit of a warm spell here and my trigger finger was getting itchy... had it not been for other things that needed to be done on saturday i would have taken off to the range. ...went online and stumbled across some of the amateur gun play stuff on youtube (cringing all the while, amazing who is out there and filming to boot).

i will definitely give this site a good looksee.

alas I live in the miserable and woebegone state of NJ, which in it's infinite lack of wisdom banned "Assault" rifles. I had to legally dispose of the following. M1A, H&k 91, AR-15, AR-180, M-1 carbine,Legal semi-auto Chinese AK, and last but not least my Ruger Mini-14. To say I was pissed is a considerable understatement and since the dealers knew you Had to sell them they only offered a small percentage of their current value. Couldn't afford to relocate and I won't knowing break the law so I complied. That's just one of the many reasons we in the Southren part of the state dislike and distrust the Northren half. O well water under the bridge Sad

Yikes! Even California let us keep ours, we just had to get rid of the eeeevil bayonet-mounting flash suppressor (because, you know, something that spits out 7.62mm bullets gets a lot more dangerous if you can mount a bayonet and poke somebody Rolling Eyes ) so I just had to get one o' these and mount it if I want to show up at the range:

(in case the pic don't show, look here)
www.calguns.net/calgun...hp?t=39735

And 20 round mags can't be shipped into the state or mounting HiCap mags is verboten. I thought things were bad here.

my hat is off to you jeff! you are a law abiding citizen.... have you met some of us here from the DG?????
have you heard of any NJ instances were the law had to actually go and "collect"?

that is truly a shame. that just leads to a more heated off topic ranting about politicians and politics. i didnt realize that NJ had gone that way.

The law was passed way back in 1990 and covers fifty-seven different varieties of rifles, pistols, and shotguns. The possesion of a magazine with more than 15 round capacity, whether you own a gun or not is banned and subject to arrest and prison term. There are theoretically a few exceptions that allow ownership but in practice, no one is granted the necessary permit. shortly after it was passed there were some seizures made with great fanfare by the state troopers, with plenty of inaccurate
media reporting. Don't want to get on too much of a soapbox here so I'll let it rest at that
