Hello,

this German WW2 gun (indeed there is only the barrel and the shield) is said to be a German 5cm Pak 38 gun. However, looking to photos of the original Pak 38, this one really doesn't look to be the same. Anybody can help?

I am NO expert but, the barrel looks like a PAK 38 AT gun. However the breech looks like it might have been mounted in either a gun turret or a self propelled type gun carriage. Notice the deflection/safety shield. Good chance the two pieces are not native to each other at all.

Perhaps the more learned here would be more help, I'm just a peasant. Smile

Hi

The gun is a 5cm KwK L/42 that was installed in the Panzer III Ausf H.

This gun looks like it has been mounted in an emplacement. There is a gun just like this set in a open top concrete emplacement, set at ground level, at Pegasus Bridge in Normandy.
