Did Com-Central go away for a while?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I was starting to go into withdrawal. When I tried to check in from home last night the site couldn't be found, Then this morning at work the same thing!

I just got back from lunch and with trembling fingers and my last tortured breath I clicked on the bookmark

IT'S BACK

I can get my fix!!

heartbeat and respiration return to normal
Life is good Wink

Thank god for that - I thought my monkeying around with my home network had caused some sort of problem and I spent 4 hours chasing down a non-existant fault.....

Cool

Dont fret, Guys. Like all the best websites, our esteemed admins are constantly making upgrades like better security, faster servers (for both the forums and some services you dont see) and various tweaks like bigger jets for the carburetors, advancing the ignition, and headers for the exhaust. (you can recognize them by the lofty "janitor" title under their login names)
Anytime the server is not available, its usually just a maintenence call(scheduled or unscheduled) or an upgrade. Notice we dont get spammed here...and the occasional rare intruder usually has a lifetime measureable in minutes. Heck, even my Bently GT has to go into Jiffy Lube every once in a while. Rolling Eyes

In 2 years, Ive never seen the site down longer than 24 hours, if that. Wink

24 Hours!!!!! but .. but ..
How can I live without getting a fix for a whole day Shocked Shocked Shocked

Seriously I appreciate all the work they do and I never had any real doubt it would come back soon but withdrawal was starting to get ugly that morning. Almost as bad as when the Flightline shop ran out of coffee one Monday morning cause no one went to the commissary the week before. Ever seen a buch of E-5 to E-8s with no coffee it isn't a pretty sight Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Of course us young troops were okay most of us got our caffene from the Coke or Pepsi.
