Hey Bob, speaking of T92s, I wonder where/what happened to the other 1 or 2 T92 light tank prototypes... Have you ever driven by AAI in Hunt Valley MD? I know they used to have the RDF light tank outside that VMMV now has, I wonder if they might still have a T92 or something else outside or tucked away...

Here's their info:

Looks like it might be "one the way" to APG for you?

hello ossie,
glad to see you have made it back to the forum. i havent talked to you in quite a while. did you say you were going to have the T92 on a dragon wagon? did you say you had photographic evidence for said scenario?
no offense, using artistic license and all, but i dont think the dragon could handle the T92. i mean, the last T92 made never even left the factory area...
transporting it was a nightmare. the little documentation i have says the thing was very difficult to transport...

Wow, those TACOM pics had to have been taken right after they moved the T92 and T30 over from Van Dyke side, the cement is very white and the fence is not up, the land behind the tanks was sold back to the city of Warren when they closed up the plant.

I am happy to say that the vehicles have been cleaned and re-painted since.
I would like to get a camera pass and take some pics for you, but it is not easy right now.

They used to have several facilities out on that side of Baltimore. I actually was at the loading dock of one of the buildings about 10 years ago when the company I was working for was doing some special software for them and we had to borrow some special chassis. They may have a back lot somewhere but that area has been developed so much in the last 20 years I doubt they have any areas they aren't reusing or leasing out.

Baltimore used to be an interesting city to drive around. Everything From Bendix in Towson with a big 1950's style radar antenna on the roof. Every now and then a train of military vehicles would roll right through our neighborhood on it's way to the Port. There were several shipyards building or repairing ships (Including the Fairfield yard where the first Liberty ship was built) and the Martin Aircraft plant that was winding down but was doing 'special' work and we would see some strange planes at medium altitudes coming in to land.

AAI is a little to far north of the beltway to be 'on the way' but I get over that way occasionally. I might get a chance to wander around some one of these days.

Wingie-thingie distraction:

There's actually a fairly interesting Martin Aircraft Museum near the old plant. They have a decent indoor display, plus some aircraft, including an F9F Cougar, an F-4C Phantom II, an RF-84F Thunderflash, two F-100F Super Sabres, an F-101F Voodoo, an F-105G Thunderchief, two RB-57s, a TA-4J Skyhawk, and an A-7D Corsair II.

to answer the question 14 tanks. with teh aid of AA pe and 105 mm gun.
mk5, 5/1,5/2. + LR long range by adding rear fuel tank versions
mk6, 6/1, 6/2. +LR long range by adding rear fuel tank versions
mk 11 + mk11 op +LR long range by adding rear fuel tank
australian mk5/1 both vietnam and non vietnam
danish , dutch ,candian ,swedish, jordaian, south african.

What about the folding screen DD? That was based on a Mk 5 I think but I cannot quite see from the only image I have. The rigid screen DD seems to be based on a Mk 3?

Cool

hello ossie,
shawn here, yes, i had passed on a few pictures to you, including the same photo previously posted that tom has at his battletanks site.
i had tried to get back onto the facility since to take more pics/measurements for you, but as ChrisC has mentioned that is very difficult to do. ChrisC- i had taken those pics shortly after they had moved them over from the van dyke location. I was just happy to be have gotten a PR escort, permission and chance to take photos. even then, with the escort, numerous guards and officials had become very interested in my photographing the monuments. it was pre-9/11, i can understand the precautions, even more so after 9/11. i wish things were better, i enjoyed attending the open houses and picnics that were held at the facility.

Hi Ossie! Hi Folks!

While looking for an answer to Jim's Lost War Model guestion, I ran acrossed this photo. Hope it is a new one for you.

Sorry about the viewing angle. For some reason, I can rotate the photo but it still comes out like this after I upload it.
