theoretically, the 2nd card should increase performance by around 70% (according to the SLi reviews I've seen).

The second card doesn't seem to have made a difference.

It knows there is a second card fitted and the software is in multi gpu mode.
I can view the 'balance' of the workload of both cards on the screen with a horizontal green bar and they are balanced evenly.

The kits still too new, gotta play some more with it yet.

LOL, actually, no. She knew there was another parcel coming.

I was at work when the first arrived and since I knew what was in it I asked her to open it, she found the receipt straight away, lol.

That was the cheap one, as it happened, the 'big' parcel was delayed a day and she had to go out, so all she saw when she came back was an empty box.

She's trying all sorts to get the price out of me but I can't tell her for fear of instant death.

The new computer is all boxed up now so she has no idea what's inside of it.

Hey Hit, how you doing?, family OK?

The P5N32 board gives a full x16 to each slot in SLI mode. Quite a few reviews of mobo's I have read don't seem to see the advantage of the full x16 pipe to both cards, I get the impression that x16 to one slot and x8 to another keeps most people happy.

Why settle for less when you can have more...:)
(That's my wife's excuse for continuous eating...lol)

Intel may rule at the moment Smile but Nvidia still rocks...But you'll know that Hit after changing from ATI to Nvidia...LOL

Hey Kit... the family is great, thanks

I am curious...why the 7950GX2 and not the 7950GTX?

Hi Hit,

I was unaware that a 7950GTX exists, the company I ordered the bits from stocked 7900GTX or 7950GX or 7950GX2.

If you meant the 7900GTX, it was purley down to a heat issue. Although the 7900GTX is a faster card than the 7950GX2 it produces more heat and the case I wanted to use may have caused heat related issues.

Banshee has the same case and says his 7900 card runs slightly hotter in that case than in his other case.

My logic may be flawed though.

yep I meant the 7900GTX Shocked ... I got around the temp issue by water cooling them. I was just curious as they are a bit cheaper and have more horsepower, but the GX2 cards are very nice also...... So how do you like SLI?..... I find that the games that are geared for it like COD2 etc really kick ass both graphically and with performance...the older games that aren't geared for SLI run great with higher FPS but the graphics don't really improve other than being able to run them fully cranked. I have also found that certain versions of Autocad hate SLI and run like crap..however Autocad 2006 runs fine...this may also have something to do with running a dual core processor. I have also discovered that Nile which is the map editor for Jop's doesn't like SLI very much either but it is a crap programe anyway's lol.

Hi Hit

With this being a new rig, mobo, cpu etc, I have hardly any software on it yet.

There's only Jops really thats installed and FS9, neither of which seem to improve with an SLI set up, both programs perform equally well on just the single card.

The SLI set up is working as the load balancing indicator shows both cards sharing the load...Still got a bit of tweaking to do yet. CPUZ says my FSB is 277Mhz while Asus probe tells me it's 800Mhz, also when the post screen is displayed it comes up with 16,1,1,1,1 where I was expecting 16,16,1,1,1

A bit of investigation is needed to make sure I'm running at max rpm Smile
