Visiting Aberdeen in April
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I'll be there Saturday the 21st. I plan to be at the museum as early as I can in the morning, then will meet with the group for the tour. I guess well be meeting in front of the museum building?

I'll be driving over from my parent's place in Delaware City, after flying in from Texas the night before.

Looking forward to the tour and meeting everone.

See you there.

Chris,
I have a similar schedule LOL... I am flying back from LA the day before, and driving to SC right after visiting the museum...

For my part I am aiming to be at the museum itself by 9:30am, traffic not withstanding...

Bob,
I sent the info on your tours to the Washington Armor Club (local AMPS affiliate) folks... So you may see some more signups today...

If we want to do a AFVnews get together on the same weekend now would probably be a good time to start getting a headcount and make some plans

So what is our AFV News discussion board head-count for next Saturday? Bob, myself, Don... Kurt? Anyone else?

Neil

Let's just make sure we are talking about the right day. In my book 'Next Saturday' would be Saturday the 14th (since today is Wednesday the 11th) The big tour/get together is Saturday the 21st.

I refuse to get into the argument as to whether the upcoming saturday is this Saturday making the one over a week away next Saturday

I will be at Aberdeen on Monday April 16, Friday April 20, and Saturday April 21. I'll see if I can count reservations tonight. I know there are a lot more people signed up for 2 PM. Seems there is some kind of 'Sherman Roundtable' at AMPs in the morning (The things I give up to give tours at the museum Sad ) I'm hoping that the folks at 2 PM will fill me in on that.

We will begin both tours at the museum lobby. Besides the Belair St yard I plan on including thewarehouse and associated parking area if time allows.

For us folks who are unfortunately unable to travel, or get leave for the Aberdeen tour, can someone out there take lots of photos, to post at Photobucket? Please, Please?

It kills me not to be able to see the warehouse and boneyard in person, but duty prevails.

I've gone and gotten a new camera - I'm bound to post a few photos here after all is said and done.

It is still at the Railhead (or it was on Monday Wink ). I have been promised that I will be told when they plan on moving it so that I can be there to watch and hopefully take pictures. I don't expect that to happen in the next few months Rolling Eyes

The warehouse and boneyard will still be there in the future. Warehouse tours can be arranged with a moderate amount of advanced notice (and in some cases very short notice) We can usually see the boneyard through the chainlink fence which is close enough for most folks. I thought there would be folks in town for AMPS who would want to get very close to look for casting and stamping mark, etc that are only possible inside the fence.

I'm sure there will be pictures posted though (Neil has posted pictures of most of the warehouse stuff in the past)

Thanks for putting this on. My camera battery was crapping out while we were at the warehouse, but it was still a great day. Wink

That was one reason I did the tour in the order I did. Getting back to the warehouse is relatively easy, I take folks there regularly. The Belair Street yard is the 'tough ticket' but I'm hoping it won't be quite as tough in the future.

So let's see some of the pictures for folks who couldn't make it
