CIA Agent M114 meets Agent Tumbleweed......
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Well, if you put 2 and 2 and 3 trillion together (plus one!) you can tell that y'all must be at the Bassett in El Paso (El Paso Scale Modeling Club).

Just a little bit Don. The model show was at Bassett Place, the mall that is West of Cielo Vista about two miles or so. The folks over at Cielo Vista will not even talk to us about doing a display show there.

Bassett Place (?) Oh thats the old Bassett Center or Mall.... Damn I was thinking that also, but didn't know if it still existed.

I can remember when Bassett was an open air mall. I assume the Hobby Shop is still there? (Can't remember the name. I think thats where I bought my Cheyenne model back in the early 70's.)

My Dad did his 2nd year in Vietnam (70-71) after attending the foreign language school at Ft Bliss. He had to do the Vietnamese & French courses, to prep for his tour as an advisor with the Vietnamese.

'We' stayed in El Paso while he was gone. Know the town well. Ended up back there in 77-80. The exploits which took place during this period shall remain confidential. Cool Mr. Green

Bassett Place? Sorry forgot that is the latest name change by the current group of owners. That toy store you are thinking about was called "Roy's Toys" and the current model club displays were started at Bassett by the owner of that store about 30+years ago. Sadley that store is long gone. I picked up a number of kits from it over the years. Now days, the only reason I ever go inside Bassett is when the club is doing a display. None of the four malls in this town have a toy/model kit store or bookstores any more so I find that I don't have a need to go into any of them.

As for a open aired mall, the one in the northeast part of town is still open to the great sunshine we have during most days here in far west Texas.
